We in 2005 successfully secured money through the Department of Communities -Youth Crime Prevention program to run an Anger Management program. This program will be delivered as a mentor program.
 | We had 6 young males between the ages of 16-21 who have been identified by ourselves and other community organisations to be trained to deliver to the community an Anger Management workshop a couple of hours a week over several weeks, several times a year. These 6 young males have received training with The Outlook (A training Facility from Boonah) which was a 4 day workshop for these young people and 4 older male mentors. Who are professional Youth Workers in our community. | | | | The training package included anger management strategies, team building, developing leadership qualities, and assisting young people to learn and teach on the ground problem solvers to deliver to other young people. The other aspect of this program had the young people and Mentors trained in running a specific Anger Management package that Reconnect have purchased from the Living Skills Resource Centre. Mentors will be asked to assist the young people to develop, facilitate and deliver this program to young men in the community who need assistance with managing their anger. The Mentors will be asked to commit their time to this program as a support role for to the young men. | | | | |
